► (n. 1930) Director cinematográfico francés. Una de las más fuertes personalidades de la nouvelle vague. Fue crítico en La Gazette du Cinéma, con el seudónimo de Hans Lucas, y en Cahiers du Cinéma. Premiado en los festivales de Berlín y de Venecia. Películas: Al final de la escapada (1960), Une femme est une femme (1961), La Chinoise (1967), Pasión (1982), Yo te saludo María (1984), Elogio del amor (2002) y Nuestra música (2004), entre otras.

Director de cine francés. Escribió crítica cinematográfica para la prestigiosa revista Cahiers du cinéma y en 1960 causó revuelo con su primer largometraje, la espontánea y original Sin aliento (1960), que lo estableció como el creador de la nouvelle vague. Siguió explorando nuevas técnicas en películas como Vivir su vida (1962), Pierrot el loco (1965), Lemmy contra Alphaville (1965) y Weekend (1968), en las cuales utilizó la cámara de manera creativa para manifestar sus ideas políticas. Con Sauve qui peut (La vie) (1979) y Carmen (1982) regresó a los temas de interés general; sin embargo causó gran controversia con ¡Yo te saludo, María!, una moderna versión del nacimiento de Jesús (1985). Fue elogiado por la crítica por Histoire(s) du Cinéma (1997), un estudio hecho en formato de vídeo acerca del cine francés, y por Elogio del amor (2001).
